How much does a move cost in Oklahoma City?
Thunder Moving charges $160/hr for a 2-person crew and 24-ft truck, which includes shrink wrap and moving blankets for every item. There is a flat $75 travel fee per truck within the OKC metro and a 2-hour minimum on all moves. Every fee we charge is published on our pricing page so you know exactly what to expect before you book.
How far in advance should I book a moving company?
We recommend booking at least 2 to 4 weeks in advance. Summer moves (May through August) fill up fastest, so earlier is better if your date falls in peak season. There is no deposit required and no rescheduling fee if your plans change.
What is included in Thunder Moving's hourly rate?
Our base rate of $160/hr includes a 2-person crew, a 24-ft truck, shrink wrap, and moving blankets for every item. Additional crew members are available at $60/hr per person. Specialty items like gun safes or pianos, packing supplies, and mattress bags are itemized separately. Everything is listed on our pricing page with no fine print.
Does Thunder Moving charge for travel time?
No. Your clock starts when our crew arrives at your door and stops when the job is complete. We do charge a flat $75 travel fee per truck for moves within the OKC metro, but we never bill you for the time it takes us to drive to your home or back to our lot. Most moving companies charge drive time both ways. We do not.
What items cannot be moved by a moving company?
We cannot transport medications, firearms or ammunition, flammables, hazardous materials, jewellery, currency, or important documents. We also cannot move hot tubs (with rare exceptions), pianos or safes over 400 lbs, or baby grand pianos. If you have a question about a specific item, give us a call before move day and we will let you know.
Do you offer packing services in Oklahoma City?
Yes. Thunder Moving offers full-home and partial packing services throughout Oklahoma City and Edmond. We can pack your entire home or just specific rooms, with kitchens and garages being most common. Packing is typically scheduled 1 to 2 days before move day.
