It is always best to schedule as soon as you have a date in mind! We love for customers to give us at least 2 weeks notice, especially for weekends, but we do our best to accommodate moves that are taking place on short notice.
You bet! We can hold your items overnight in our truck. Please note - many other moving companies will hold your items overnight but will charge extra to offload them into their warehouse and back onto the truck. In addition to costing more, this also significantly increases the potential for damage since the items are being loaded and unloaded twice. We just charge a $150 per truck per night fee for overnighting, and your items stay on our truck the entire time.
Whether your closing got delayed, your new home isn’t ready, or you just had a change in plans – we understand! Please contact us as soon as possible and we will do our best to accommodate your need. And no, we do not charge a rescheduling fee!
Yes, we are licensed with both the state of Oklahoma and the USDOT and we are fully insured.
No. All of our staff are background checked and are employees of Thunder Moving.
No! Our owner, Kye, started Thunder Moving in 2019 with just one truck. Since we do not pay franchise fees and strive to operate a low overhead system, we are able to pass savings along to our customers!
We charge a flat rate travel fee that allows us to start the clock when we arrive at your home or job site and stop it once we finish the move. The drive from our office and back to it after the move is covered by the travel fee. This saves our customers money compared to many of our competitors, who often charge a full hour of drive time for local moves or start and stop the clock at their office.
We do our best to be as transparent as possible, which is why we list all our fees on our site. You can view our pricing page here.
No deposit is necessary to get on our schedule!
We take payment for moves on-site as soon as we complete them.
This is completely up to you! If you are pleased with the service our team provides, they will be very grateful for a tip.
On average, one truck can hold approximately 1500 to 1800 square feet of living space. This obviously varies from home to home, depending on how the home is furnished. Additionally, garage items, attic space, and outdoor furniture can take up extra space.
We recommend adding a second crew any time the home is over 3000 square feet and/or densely packed. We may also recommend a second truck when a home is smaller than this but is relocating more than 20-30 minutes away. We would be happy to discuss the best plan for your move and whether having a smaller crew and making multiple trips or starting the day with a larger crew is the best option.
Preparation is key. Have as many items as possible packed into boxes to minimize loose items and more trips back and forth to the truck. If you can have items centrally located in each room or placed close to an entry point (most often, the garage or front door), this can also cut down on time. Lastly, clearly labeling boxes will help our team make sure they get placed in the correct room at your new location.
It’s Oklahoma, so we are used to moving in all four seasons (within the same day). We will always do our best to prevent your items from getting wet with shrink wrap and blankets. Anything you can do to help us get our truck as close as possible to the entry point of your home will be a big help! If the weather gets too crazy, we can stop the clock and take a break until things pass. Having some towels on hand is a great idea if inclement weather is forecast for your move day in order to wipe things down. We also highly recommend that you wipe items down if they are going into storage to prevent any mold, mildew, or degradation of wood or fabric.
While we can certainly help you take the TV down off the wall, we are unable to help with the TV mount itself.
Yes! Our crews can take care of basic assembly, such as most bed frames, mirrors on dressers and taking the legs off a dining room table. While we can certainly move the following items, we are not able to perform specialized assembly for items such as Sleep Number (or motorized/mechanical) beds, trampolines, play sets or complex gym equipment. We can disassemble cribs, but for safety reasons, we do not re-assemble them.
We are unable to perform any water or electrical/gas connections associated with appliances and highly recommend having a plumber or handyman take care of this for safety reasons. Please have these items fully disconnected and drained of water beforehand. If you live in an apartment complex, simply contact maintenance to take care of these connections.
We are unable to pack or transport sensitive items such as medications, firearms and ammunition, flammable or hazardous items, jewelry, currency, or important documents. Please make arrangements to pack these items on your own and transport them – we can assist with loading and unloading them into your vehicle if you need help!
We highly recommend packing items in their original boxes to ensure a proper fit. For TVs, we do require that they be in a properly-fitted box in order to be transported – televisions are extremely susceptible to being damaged in transport when they are not boxed. We do sell TV boxes if you need one!
We recommend double or triple-taping box bottoms to ensure they stay secure. To ensure your items are safe, please use bubble wrap and/or packing paper on all fragile items, such as glass and China. Please do not overload boxes, and especially when packing books, please always use a small box to prevent overloading the box. Lastly, please make sure all box tops are taped shut and clearly label all boxes with the items contained, the room to which they need to be transported, and whether or not the contents are fragile.
Yes! Non-breakable items such as clothing can be left in drawers. We can use blankets and shrink wrap to keep the drawers shut during transport.
